Meatballs are an Italian dish that was brought to America by Italian immigrants in the late 1800’s. Meatballs have been made with a variety of different meats, including beef, pork and chicken. They are usually served in well-known dishes such as Spaghetti Bolognese.
INGREDIENTS
Meatballs:
1 Tbsp Oil
750g Beef mince
1 Egg, beaten
½ cup Oats
1 IMANA Brown Onion Flavoured Gravy
Sauce:
2 tsp Oil
1 IMANA Tomato Flavoured Soup
1 tsp Curry powder
½ Green pepper, chopped
½ Onion, chopped
2 tsp Syrup
1 tsp Vinegar
2 cups Cold water
METHOD
Meatballs:
In a bowl, combine the mince, egg, oats and IMANA Brown Onion Flavoured Gravy powder and mix well.
Roll the mixture into meatballs.
In a pan, fry the meatballs on all sides.
Sauce:
In a pan, fry the green pepper, curry powder and onion.
Add syrup, vinegar, IMANA Tomato Flavoured Soup powder and water. Cover and simmer for 10 - 15 minutes.
Add meatballs and simmer for a further 10 minutes.
Serve with rice, mash, pasta or phutu.
