The word “quiche” translates to “cake” in German and was a savoury and delicate dish that can be traced back to the 14th century. Quiche is also part of French cuisine, and is often mixed with roasted vegetables, various meats and spices to create a delicious and savoury dish.
INGREDIENTS
Pastry:
¾ cup Butter or margarine
¾ cup Cheese, grated
1¼ cup Flour
Filling:
Oil
800g Butternut, peeled and cubed
1 cup Cream
4 Eggs
1 cup Milk
1 cup Cheese, grated
Mixed herbs
1 IMANA Cream of Vegetable Flavoured Soup
METHOD
Pastry:
Mix all ingredients together. Press into a large greased quiche dish.
Filling:
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Place the butternut in a roasting tin and drizzle with oil, sprinkle with herbs and roast until soft.
Place the roasted butternut on top of the pastry.
Mix IMANA Cream of Vegetable Flavoured Soup powder, cream, eggs and milk together.
Pour over mixture over the cooked butternut.
Sprinkle with cheese and bake for 40 - 60 minutes until quiche is set.
